I'm not much of a blogger, but I am cheap, so when I learned I could put all of this stuff up without having to pay
for a domain name or write HTML, I decided to do it. I hope this blog will evolve as the Jeep itself does, moving from a list of what I've done to the Jeep to what I've done with the Jeep. I'll post as often as I feel like doing so. I'm verbose, naturally, so don't be shocked if my posts are long-winded and heavily detailed (that's me). (Click on the pics for bigger versions.)
To pay for these fun little money pits, I'm a professor of composition and literature at Riverside City College. Neither of these Jeeps is my daily driver (I've got a 1999 diesel VW Bug for that). But I've always wanted to work on cars, and I thought that these are the types of rigs to practice on (very little if any computerization, lots of bolt on parts). Living where I do just south and west of the Mojave Desert and the San Bernardino Mountains, off-roading is the primo activity of choice on the weekends, and the options are pretty good (Johnson Valley, the Hammers, El Mirage, Joshua Tree, Big Bear, San Gabriel/Azusa Canyon, and the like). I don't imagine my rigs will ever be finished, which is part of the fun. I'm also pretty sure I'll never have enough of them.
